The Valentine Fund

The Valentine Fund was initiated in 1987 to provide financial assistance to members of the Portland-area theatre community in times of medical or personal emergency.  

PATA is proud to have supported our artists in times of need for more than 27 years. The Valentine Fund is made possible by donations from the community, businesses, and PATA members.  We hold an annual fundraising drive and accept donations throughout the year.

How long does the application process take?
Once your application is complete, the Valentine Fund Committee should have a decision made within 14-21 days. 

Is my information confidential?
Your Name, application, and circumstances are only released on a need to know basis.  The members of the Valentine Fund Committee and the Treasure of the PATA board will privy to this information.  

Can I find out the names of the people on the Valentine Fund committee?
Yes!  The committee changes with every term, so just email us to find out the names of people on the current committee.  

What kind of documentation should I provide?
Please provide any information that you believe will help us make a decision.  Anything you think is important to your situation.  Some examples could be, letter from a physician, invoices paid, medical records, proof of loss, and many more. 

What kind of situations qualify?
The Valentine Find can help you through strenuous times and a variety of needs apply.  We focus on dispersing funds to active members of the theatre community who have encountered unforeseen hardships.

If my application is denied, can I apply at a later date?
Yes!  Your application will be considered with others. 

How often can I apply for funds?
You must allow three months to pass before applying for additional funds. 

What is the process for applying?

  1. Fill out your application online, or download and mail your application here. 
  2. Attach any information to support your application.
  3. The Valentine Committee will review your application and contact you to let you know we received it.  We may ask you for additional information to support your application.
  4. Once your application is complete, and we have received all the documentation, the committee will meet for approval of your application.  They will discuss the application and, hopefully, recommend dispersing funds.
  5. The Board of Directors votes on approving the recommendation (your information remains confidential to the board at large).
  6. We will contact you to inform you of the decision.
