This event is about connecting dancers to dance-related work and giving those who hire an opportunity to meet the immense pool of talent in Portland. Part audition, part high-energy functional networking extravaganza!
First Some Definitions:
DANCERS: Anyone interested in being hired for dance-related work such as performing, teaching, choreographing, gigs, collaborations, and/or commercial.
DIRECTORS: Anyone who hires dancers for dance-related work such as company directors, studio owners, casting agents, independent choreographers.
How it Works:
DANCERS wear audition numbers and take classes throughout the day in various different styles of dance including: musical theatre, contemporary jazz, commercial choreography, hip hop, structured improv, and modern.
DIRECTORS (anyone hiring or casting within the next year) can set up with their brochures in the lobby, or move fluidly through the space to view class or final choreography for each class. Directors will get a link to a mini-directory of all who attended the event (similar to this directory of registered DIRECTORS that dancers can see before the event). Each DANCER listing will include:
-headshots
-resumes
-audition numbers
-how many years they’ve been dancing
-styles of dance they practice
-what they are interested in – performing, choreographing, collaborations, gigs, networking, administrative work etc.
DIRECTORS can hire straight from this event, or do their own call backs to see more from select DANCERS. This link will be active for the entire year, so even if you are not casting/hiring right now, you can reference this when you are.
Cost for DIRECTORS:
Free for Dance Wire members.
$50 for Nonmembers.
