Juneteenth Event – Actors Needed to Portray Civil Rights Activists/Abolitionists

May 28 @ 11:00 am - June 12 @ 11:30 pm

I’m helping Odyssey World International Education Services, in collaboration with other local organizations (Onpoint Credit Union, Clark College, Clark County Historical Museum), fill some acting roles for their upcoming Juneteenth Event on June 15, 2024, from 10AM-5PM, at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, WA.

This year, they are showcasing a new interactive historical display at this event. We are hiring three actors who are comfortable walking around the event, interacting with the public, dressed up as civil rights activists or famous abolitionists. Actors would be responsible for providing their own costumes and makeup, and they would be responsible for learning about the person whom they are portraying.

The shift will be from 11AM-4PM, with arrival at 10:45AM to check in.

This event pays $50/hour, for a total of $250 paid within 7 days of the event.

From the Event Director: “We are showcasing a new Interactive History of Juneteenth Display. This project is sponsored by Onpoint Credit Union, Clark College, and the Clark County Historical Museum. To create buzz about this display and enhance the educational part of this event, we are hiring actors willing to dress up as civil rights activists or famous abolitionists for our Juneteenth Freedom celebration, educating people about the real-life person they are portraying. We would like them to circulate through the park and direct visitors to the interactive History of Juneteenth Display. We are looking for actors who feel comfortable interacting with the public.”

If available and interested, please submit a headshot, resume, and character/real person you’d be interested in portraying to Jessica Geffen at info@thesoundstagenw.com.

Thank you so much for your time!
