PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY!
Eligibility Requirements:
- To participate in these auditions, actors must have an Individual-level membership in good standing with either PATA or Theatre Puget Sound at time of registration and through the audition date (March 25th, 2024).
- If you are not currently a PATA member, you can sign up for a membership here: https://portlandtheatre.com/join-us/ *Please note that free user accounts do not qualify as a membership.
- Citywide General Auditions are open to actors of all ages; however, youth auditions follow the same format and requirements as adult auditions, so actors should be experienced enough to confidently and independently perform their audition pieces. If you have questions, please reach out to info@portlandtheatre.com.
- If you are a TPS member, please email info@portlandtheatre.com with proof of your membership (a screenshot is fine) after registering.
Schedule:
- Auditions will take place on Sunday, March 24th from 5-9pm and Monday, March 25th from 1pm-7pm at The Judy (home of Northwest Children’s Theater) – 1000 SW Broadway Ave, T-100, Portland, OR 97205
- We are trying a new system for scheduling this year in order to better group together youth, singing, and non-singing auditions. You will fill out a form with your availability and appointment times will be assigned after registration closes on March 10th.
- Actor registration closes on Sunday, March 10th at 11:30pm PT.
***Updates on scheduling***
- We are no longer planning to hold a separate youth segment of auditions. Actors under 18 are still welcome to join us, you’ll just have more flexibility in time slot choices.
- Most of the remaining time slots available are for Monday afternoon or early evening, though we are still able to accommodate a few more actors at other dates/times.
What to prepare:
Auditions must be under two minutes in length (not including your introduction) and may consist of any of the following:
- One monologue and one song (recommended)
- Two contrasting monologues (recommended)
- Two short songs
- One long monologue
- One long song
To keep things running on schedule, there will be a timer on hand who will cut you off if you exceed the two minute time limit, so please leave yourself room to have a relaxed performance and make sure to time your audition in advance. Transitions between pieces count as part of your two minutes.
There will be an accompanist for musical auditions. Please bring sheet music.
For these auditions, we print a binder for each auditor containing everyone’s headshot, resume, and additional details, so you will not need to bring any headshots or resumes to your audition.
Registration instructions:
- Pay the “Audition Binder Fee” by selecting that ticket option below. This fee covers the cost of assembling a binder for each auditor full of everyone’s headshots, resumes, and addition details.
- Check your email inbox for a confirmation email containing a link to the form you need to fill out to request an audition time and complete your registration. This will be separate from the payment confirmation/receipt email.
- Fill out the form by the end of the registration period (March 10th, 2024 at 11:30pm) – the sooner the better! Check your spam folder if you don’t see the email right away.
- If you do not receive an email containing the Google form link within 20 minutes of paying the binder fee, or if you have any other questions or concerns, email info@portlandtheatre.com.
- If you would like to submit a video audition, pay the binder fee below and then email info@portlandtheatre.com with the subject line “Video Audition Request” to get a link to the online submission form. Online auditionees will have until March 24th to submit their video auditions.
Registration closes on Sunday, March 10th at 11:30pm PT.
***Note: We have had a significant number of people not receive the automated email containing the link to the registration form. If you are signing up at the last minute and your confirmation email (subject line “IMPORTANT: Citywide General Auditions Form”) doesn’t come through, do not panic! Just send an email letting us know and we will get it sorted out on Monday. 🙂 ***
