Oregon Adventure Theatre (OAT) will be holding in-person auditions for our traveling outdoor summer 2025 show, William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale Directed by Eleanor Johnson.
We are looking to narrow down this 35-character play to 9 actors, so this will be a very ensemble-motivated piece.
In addition, this show will be presented with some characters in Commedia Dell’Arte masks and others without. There is a high likelihood that one of your characters wears a mask at some point in time in this show.
If you have worked with Commedia masks before, amazing. If you have never worn a Commedia or theatrical mask but have always wanted to, fabulous. If you have no idea what we are talking about but you love Shakespeare and adventure, magnificent! If you are willing to be taught, we will give you the skills. We wear Newman’s Commedia Masks, if you would like to learn more about them check out his website.
In addition, our outdoor shows are lit by propane fire and lanterns, so as the sun goes down the flames come up! This also means we can have s’mores at intermission. We will help you, “teach the torches to burn bright”, but being comfortable around a safe and contained fire pit and lanterns, is a must.
This is a PAID, NON-UNION production, with actors getting paid a stipend of at least $599. We encourage all genders/ethnicities/ages to audition. Actors will also be expected to participate in the load-in and load-out of shows.
