Magenta Theater is seeking actors with strong singing voices and acting ability to audition for our 3rd main stage show of the year ‘Amélie: the Musical’.
More information at: https://www.magentatheater.com/amelie-musical-2023
PLEASE NOTE: All roles are volunteer only. No pay.
Sign-up for a 5 minute audition slot on either May 3rd from 6P-9P or May 7th from 10A-NOON. Email your theater resume and headshot to knittle.erin@gmail.com before you audition, and arrive 10-15 minutes before your audition time.
Prepare a 32 bar (1 minute) contemporary musical theatre song of your choosing. The music of Amélie is similar to other modern musicals, such as Waitress, Dogfight, Matilda, and Big Fish. Feel free to use songs from these shows, or use them as a guide when selecting your audition song. Think upbeat and a little bit quirky! Choose a song that makes you feel confident, that you feel demonstrates your vocal strengths, and that helps you embody the character.
Prepare your audition using a backing (karaoke) track. There will be a Bluetooth speaker and/or aux plug-in available for you to connect. Your audition with the backing track will provide us with critical information, as we will be using prerecorded tracks for our performances. (There are ample backing tracks available on YouTube, Spotify, etc.)
Video submissions are allowed for vocal auditions only if you are unable to attend in person. For video auditions, please submit a full contemporary musical theatre song (approx. 3-4 minutes) no later than May 1st.
Callbacks will be on May 7th from 2PM-5PM and are by invitation only. Callbacks must be in person. You will be notified at your vocal audition if you are invited to callbacks. Callbacks will include a choreo routine. A video will be provided on the audition website for everyone to review prior to callbacks. We are not looking for you to memorize the dance, but please be familiar with it.
