SCARLET SAILS CULTURAL FOUNDATION
invites adults to the play
“BABA CHANEL”!!!
“All the world’s a stage!” Not just on the scaffolds, but in life as well.
It all starts as an outright farce. Five grandmothers sing in an amateur ensemble of folk songs at the Cultural House of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf (V.O.G.). At the choir’s 10th-anniversary, the leader introduces a new member to the group, who is to become the new soloist and open new horizons for the ensemble. The sweet old ladies begin to desperately fight for their place in the sun, turning into real furies.
What should be preferred – the native and close old or the shiny but unknown new? What remains in a person’s life if they are deprived of the meaning of life, a beloved cause, creativity, art…?
A merry and sharp farce turns into a piercing story about compassion and support, empathy and mercy, love and sacrifice. And deeply behind all this hides the eternal human loneliness.
