BODIES

April 20, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

$5 – $35

Created by UK artist Ray Young, BODIES is a sound and performance installation in a swimming pool, inviting audiences into the pool for an active, sensory experience of water, discovery, and rest. Originally commissioned by Unlimited (https://weareunlimited.org.uk/), this immersive water, light, and soundscape environment investigates the embodied experiences of our relationships with water. This work explores mature themes of water, climate, and social justice.

Audience members actively participate in the heated swimming pool for approximately 50 minutes. BODIES will guide the audience through chapters of movement and discovery. Audience members may also decide their own interaction with the piece. If at any point you want to have your own swim, get out of the pool, or take a poolside break, that is welcome.

Fully qualified lifeguards will be present at all points of the installation experience. Floating aids will be available. The piece will be captioned and has audio description available. If you have any additional access needs, please email info@boomarts.org.

Performances of BODIES at a pool in NE Portland near 82nd and Prescott, April 20 – 23, 2023. Exact address will be sent to ticket holders only.

Tickets: $35 each. For $5 Arts for All Oregon Trail cardholder tickets, please inquire by emailing info@boomarts.org.
