Musical Audition Prep Workshop

Join us for an exhilarating musical theater audition workshop just in time for the upcoming PATA Generals led by performer and voice teacher, Leah Yorkston. This workshop offers invaluable insights and hands-on training to help you shine in the audition room.

Leah will guide participants through personalized coaching sessions designed to enhance vocal technique, acting prowess, and overall audition presentation. Participants will have the opportunity to perform selections from their repertoire and receive constructive feedback in a supportive and encouraging environment. From mastering vocal dynamics to unlocking the emotional depth of a character, Leah will empower participants to showcase their unique talents with confidence and authenticity.

Whether you’re preparing for upcoming auditions or simply looking to elevate your performance skills, this workshop promises to be a transformative experience for aspiring musical theater performers of all levels. This workshop is geared to assist with songs only, not monologues.

Bring your contrasting musical selections and book. Accompanist will be provided.

About the instructor:

Leah Yorkston is an award winning singer and actress with her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Portland State University. After graduating Leah found her home as a musical theatre performer and cabaret, concert & session artist. She can be seen performing in many styles including, Broadway standards, contemporary musical theatre, jazz, classical, folk, pop and sometimes even country. Some of her stage highlights include: Tilly, Melancholy Play, The Baker’s Wife, Into the Woods, Maria, The Sound of Music, The Narrator, Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Janet, the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Sweeney Todd.  Leah can also be seen in the Emmy nominated IFC television show, Documentary Now! Original Cast Album: Co-Op (Season 3) available on Netflix. www.LeahYorkston.com

 

Class size is limited to 12 participants, with a minimum enrollment of 5. Students will be notified at least 24 hours in advance if class is cancelled due to low enrollment.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 7 days prior to the start of class will receive a full refund. After that period, full or partial refunds will be at the discretion of PATA. For cancellation requests, please email info@portlandtheatre.com. If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, or have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID, please do not come to class. We will work with you to provide a refund or class credit if needed.

Please note: in order to qualify for the member discount, you must have a paid, Individual or Company level membership. Up to 3 people per company may attend at the discounted rates, and all must be actively working for the organization which holds the membership.
