PRODUCTION MANAGER for the Play Alabaster.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly efficient Production Manager. The Production Manager will manage the production of Alabaster by Audrey Cefaly at Shaking the Tree Theatre in SE Portland. Opening May 31st, 2024.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. The PM is responsible for realizing the vision of the creative team including the Director/ Producer and Designers. The PM manages and oversees all production elements from load-in to load-out, plus sourcing materials. The PM must maintain a high level of artistic integrity while meeting the budget and schedule requirements and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all artistic and production personnel. Additionally, the PM collaborates with the Stage Manager and Set Designer. Success in the role requires people skills, the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail, a deep passion for theatre, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the Producer/ Director.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Production, During Production Run, and Post Production
· Manage and maintain production budget, monitoring expenditures.
· Oversee and maintain the production schedule.
· Oversee the development of scenic, lighting, audio, and costumes for the production.
· Coordinate rehearsal needs- rehearsal costumes, rehearsal props, rehearsal furniture, and equipment (sound needs).
· Oversee the tech period with Stage Manager including developing the tech schedule, etc.
· Develop and manage load-in and load-out plans and systems, including any trucking or venue issues, ensuring production can operating efficiently and meet budget and schedule requirements.
· Develop and maintain communication systems and processes with SM, Crew, Admin, FOH.
· Oversee the coordination of the strike including the management and maintenance of any rental returns.
Oversee all designers meeting their deadlines of the Master Plan, and communicating those expectations.
This role is expected to help create a professional work environment and is required to work on site at Shaking the Tree Theater from May 20th-26th (during the day) May 27th-31st (evenings). Available for any issues that arise during the production run (May 31st-June 8th), and coordinate the strike on June 9th. Must be familiar with QLab, comfortable doing some construction support to aid Master Carpenter,
Education and Experience:
1. Looking for a minimum of 3 years’ experience doing production management in a theatrical environment.
2. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
3. Must be able to collaborate with multiple personalities and types of positions (e.g. Director, Producer, technicians, etc.)
4. Computer proficiency and experience with Word, google docs, and Qlab.
5. Understand basic accounting terms and practices. Business math and finance knowledge a plus and proficiency with spreadsheets using complex formulas a plus.
6. Must have experience managing people to obtain desired outcomes using appropriate communication.

PAY
$1,000- $1,500 Honorarium depending on experience.
