Company Bio Oregon Adventure Theatre is a non-profit theatre company established in Portland, Oregon in 2012. Our mission is to do good work that strengthens relationships between people and the environment. We believe telling good stories is a critical component of building strong communities. We strive to provide avenues for people with minimal to zero access to opportunities to view, produce, or participate in live theatrical experiences. We tell stories around a campfire in backyards and public parks throughout the Portland Metro Area. We use Commedia Dell’arte masks to assist our audience in relating to the characters in our stories and Coleman Lanterns to light our stage. We find that, when combined around a campfire, these elements add a richness found nowhere else in the theatrical world at this time. We believe stories are enriched by the sounds of the wind in the trees, the occasional shooting star overhead, and the setting sun. These stories are made better by the communities that surround them, including the natural communities. Our ideal stage is the open one, the found one, the living one - the places where anyone or anything could wander in and become a part of the show. Oregon Adventure Theatre strives to bring the communities of the Pacific Northwest together by filling the spaces of magic and wonder we all live in and enjoy with theatrical productions, storytelling, and art.

EDI Statement Oregon Adventure Theatre is committed to the creation of a community built on respect, belonging, collaboration, and creativity; where artists of all backgrounds can come together to tell stories and express the breadth of human experience. We embrace the complexity that diverse and inclusive theatre carries. As artists invested in exploring perspectives and fostering social change through art, we recognize the intrinsic value of all people. As a company, we produce reawakened versions of classics and new works with the ongoing commitment to introduce this ancient art form to diverse audiences and the underserved populations in our community in an accessible manner, both textually and physically. We believe theatre is something everyone, regardless of race, ability, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, should have the opportunity to experience and enjoy. As we grow, we work to expand our practices and plans to strengthen our part in the continual furthering of diversity and inclusion in the Portland theatre community Whether on our stage, backstage, in crew opportunities, or in other areas of production and operation, we make a deliberate effort to include everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, ability, religion, social status, or experience. We believe that to truly succeed in these goals, we must also support the development of emerging artists in every area we touch. Therefore we reject all forms of bigotry, discrimination, and hatred, and seek to cultivate an environment in which our differences are explored with generosity and joy.
